The National Weather Service predicts that Nashville and the surrounding Middle Tennessee region may have its first snowfall of the winter season overnight on Thursday and into Friday.
The NWS Nashville office reports that late Thursday night, an upper level low pressure system will bring sporadic showers and cold air, resulting in a snow/rain event with lows in the low 30s.
From Thursday night through Friday, there is a chance of snow showers, with the Cumberland Plateau seeing the most of the modest accumulation.
Over the Cumberland Plateau, the forecast calls for 1/4 to 1 inch of precipitation, with up to a dusting possible elsewhere. Snow showers have the biggest possibility of occurring on Friday morning.
The NWS forecast discussion on Wednesday morning said, “Temperatures on Friday morning will be in the low to mid-30s and will warm into the mid-30s to around 40 degrees by the afternoon.”
“Depending on how strong the showers are, there might be some rain followed by snow. Little accumulation is predicted for Friday during the day due to temperatures above freezing and occasional showers.”
Nashville weather today and tomorrow
Thursday: Thursday night might see a mix of rain and snow showers, mostly passing by early morning, with temperatures hovering around 33 degrees. There’s a slight chance of snow, but little to no accumulation is expected.
Friday: Friday kicks off with a chance of morning snow showers shifting into rain. The day stays mostly cloudy, reaching a high near 42 degrees. Rain showers are likely in the afternoon, continuing into the evening with a chance of rain and snow before midnight. The night’s low will be around 34 degrees.
Saturday:Â As we head into Saturday, expect a partly sunny day with temperatures reaching a high near 47 degrees. The evening will be mostly clear, and temperatures will dip to around 31 degrees.”

Showers will continue into Friday night and focus over the eastern parts of the region. With temperatures falling below freezing Friday night, some more accumulation will be likely but mainly on the Cumberland Plateau.
