Avengers 5 Rumors
Marvel Studios is currently facing a serious (no pun intended) dilemma. Jonathan Majors’s rule as Kang the Conqueror has come to an end after a New York jury convicted him guilty on one count of intentional assault in the third degree and aggravated harassment in the second degree.
On the one hand, finding a different actor to play the part is truly all that is required. As good as Majors was in Loki, the Conqueror’s loss in Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania caused many fans to ignore Kang as a real threat, which is troublesome because he’s supposed to be the primary antagonist of the Multiverse Saga.
Some people think that Loki season 2 gave Marvel Studios a pass, but the show was filmed prior to Majors’ legal troubles, and the conclusion made it clear that a Kang variant had been dealt with in the Quantum Realm, proving that the villain’s variations still exist.
Because they’re conveniently gathered at the Council of Kangs, it will be easy for another powerful person to simply wipe them all out in one fell swoop.
According to The Cosmic Circus’ Alex Perez, the idea now is to pull a Kaguya with Kang; that’s a reference to Naruto, a manga series which saw a character named Madara introduced as a serious threat and big bad. However, Kaguya was then introduced, with Madara unceremoniously killed – proving he wasn’t the threat everyone thought – and Kaguya was established as the true villain.
So, in this scenario, Kang is Madara and Kaguya is likely The Beyonder.
Though Michael Waldron rewrote both Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars, it appears that the original plot was for Kang the Conqueror to return as The Beyonder in the Ant-Man threequel.
Marvel Studios isn’t completely giving up on Kang, though. @Cryptic4KQual claims, “They won’t [explicitly]m present him as Beyonder Kang until the aftermath of the 616 collapse, when he will then go on to establish Battleworld.”
This suggests that The Beyonder used all those other Kangs to recreate the Multiverse in order to return, making all of them inferior Variants.
There’s certainly a way to make this work, but it’s difficult to ignore the confusion created by all of these rumors and question if Marvel Studios would be better off starting from scratch. Naturally, that’s what they’re doing, but we think most of you will agree that it might not be a good idea for The Beyonder to be a Kang Variant, especially considering that most normal moviegoers have likely never even seen Loki.
